Madison-Morgan Boys & Girls Club BRAG Riders Gain Traction

BRAG 2017

With water bottles locked into their bicycle frames, the largest group of Madison-Morgan Boys & Girls Club BRAG team members took off for a weeklong ride from Athens to Brunswick, Georgia.

The ride took place this June and the team was comprised of Michael Reid, 11, Tyercia Wright, 12, Saniya Wright, 11 and two alumni riders, Jarai Colbert and Demarco Wright.

These team members started each day with early morning stretches, pep talks, bike preps and educational lessons from their coach Kevin Fitzgerald. At the end of the grueling week ride, each member received a brand new 2017 Fuji Road bike as a reward and an encouragement to keep on riding.

Madison-Morgan Boys & Girls Club Executive Director, Karen Robertson said she will never forget the looks on their faces once they finished.

“It was truly my honor to be affiliated with this group of kids in this year,” Robertson said. “I will never forget the faces of the kids every day as they shared their experience on the road and as they got closer to Brunswick, the realization of what once seemed so far away was just a few pedal strokes away.”

Serving more than 1,400 youth from Morgan, Walton, Greene and Newton, BGCNCG’s vision is to provide a world-class experience that assures success is within reach of every young person who enters our doors.
