MMBGC Awarded $3,000 from BGCA

Boys & Girls Clubs of America recently awarded $3,000 to Madison-Morgan Boys & Girls Club for its support of the Summer Brain Gain program this summer.

These funds will be matched in full through the Boys & Girls Clubs of North Central Georgia Challenge Grant.

BGCA’s donation will be used to further support future Summer Brain Gain programs, which was created to mitigate summer learning loss for early and upper elementary, middle and high school youth.

“Summer learning loss has a devastating effect on America’s kids, especially those who don’t participate in enriching summer activities,” said a BGCA spokesperson.

Summer Brain Gain includes two weeks of STEM modules for elementary, middle and high school youth. These weeklong optional modules allow opportunities for clubs to extend summer programming.

Executive Club Director, Karen Robertson, said the program was the highlight of the clubs learning activities.

“Our club members engaged in over the summer in the brain gain programming by learning new activities surrounding our theme ‘All Around the World in One Summer’.”

Bob Mackey, CEO of Boys & Girls Clubs of North Central Georgia said, “We’re proud to be awarded these funds from the Boys & Girls Clubs of America and to be recognized for our commitment to continue education for our youth during the summer months.”

Serving more than 1,400 youth from Morgan, Walton, Greene and Newton, BGCNCG’s vision is to provide a world-class experience that assures success is within reach of every young person who enters our doors.
